About me:
Hola! My name is Elizabeth Bucio Marquez. I am first generation Mexican-American daughter of Lazaro and Josefina Marquez. My parents emigrated to the United States in 1970, married and raised my sister, brother and I here. I feel privileged to have been born from such hard-working parents who showed me that everything is possible with God and hard work. In 1950s Mexico, my father was very fortunate to receive his elementary education in a seminary where he learned Latin, French, Spanish and other theological subjects. I consider him a "word-wiz". Larousse dictionary in hand, throughout our childhood, he would play games with my sister, brother and I to see if we knew the meaning and spelling of many a word. And mom would teach us grammar and accents. Without a doubt, my own love for languages was deeply influenced and formed by my parents' education as well as their beautiful Mexican heritage.
